About Us

Behold, here in all their glory are the members of the Beard Bunker and the creators of this fine online tome in egalitarian alphabetical order.

Charlie

How long in the hobby? Since 1997 or thereabouts.

What is your favourite thing about this hobby? The satisfaction of physically making something shiny in a life otherwise stuffed with digital experiences.

Games played and Armies painted?
Warhammer: Dark Elves, Empire, Empire and, well, Empire.

Warhammer 40k: Imperial Guard; Eldar; More Imperial Guard; Space Marines; Orks (Speed Freaks).

Other Games: Battlefleet Gothic (Space Marines, Imperial, Eldar, Orks), Inquisitor, Gorkamorka, Space Hulk, Don't Rest Your Head RPG, Vampire, D&D, Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, Fantasy Fate. Plus video games (RPGs mainly).

If you represented yourself as a model, what would it be and why? An Eldar Guardian: although I'm trained in several forms of combat to a mediocre standard, I'm primarily concerned with various poncy and artistic pursuits, and would probably be the first to die in a real fight.

'Charlie frequently gives me the opportunity to rank up all my models in neat little lines and, shortly after, sort out my dead pile.' -Maisey

'Frankly he changed my painting, moved me from sloppy batch painting at the speed of light to what I do nowadays.' -Jeff

Emma

How long in the hobby? From about November 2011.

What is your favourite thing about this hobby? Ponies and Dragons, hence...

Games played and Armies painted? Warhammer: High Elves, Warriors of Chaos, Beastmen. 40K: Space Wolves.

If you represented yourself as a model, what would it be and why? [please provide answers or suggestions on a postcard]

'Emma has, to my chagrin, upheld the stereotype that girls don't need the years of practise required by boys to be excellent painters.' -Charlie

'I suspect she's a ruthless general lurking behind a disarming smile.' -Jeff

How long in the hobby? Since 1990 which is now, oh Christ, 22 years. Whimper.

What is your favourite thing about this hobby? Army building. I just love the sight of a host of painted models on the field.

Games played and Armies painted?
Warhammer: Ogres; Chaos; Dwarfs; Night Goblins.

40k: Blood Angels; Orks; Imperial Guard; Chaos Marines.

Other games: War of the Ring (Dwarfs), pretty much every specialist game, Warmachine (Cygnar), Historical Napoleonics (British), Pathfinder, Star Wars D20, D&D 3.5, Vampire, Hunter, Warhammer Fantasy RP.

If you represented yourself as a model what would it be and why? Long Drong the Slayer Pirate. Dwarf (for temprement, aesthetics and values); Pirate (because everything is better with pirates) and Slayer for my tendancy to yell loudly and charge in a spirit of doomed heroics.

'Jeff taught me to chill out, get on with painting the unit in front of me, and trust my own judgement. Oh, and if left in a room with Jeff, horrible, horrible consequences will befall any players we are GM-ing for.' -Charlie

Lucy

How long in the hobby? A matter of weeks properly but have been surrounded by it and the story for 13 years (I.E. how long I've known Jeff)

What is your favourite thing about this hobby? Painting the character models, the stand out pieces, something to get my teeth into.

Games played and Armies painted?
Warhammer: Beginner starting Skaven, lots of random painting of Orcs.

Other games: Blood Bowl Skaven, Wood Elves and Orcs. Pathfinder, Star Wars D20, D&D 3.5.

If you represented yourself as a model what would it be and why? A snotling. Tiny, excitable, sometimes overlooked, and dangerous if cornered.

'Will probably present a clear and present danger the second she packs in the terror and brings forth the cunning I know is lurking behind her fluffy jumper. She's also an excellent painter, despite what she thinks.' -Charlie

Mark

How long in the hobby? [other members of the bunker suspect his addiction to frenzied space fungus began in the teenage years]

What is your favourite thing about this hobby? Converting ridiculous Ork contraptions.

Games played and Armies painted? Warhammer 40k: orks, Orks, ORKS!

If you represented yourself as a model what would it be and why? [please provide answers or suggestions on a postcard]

'Waaaaaargh! That is all...' -Jeff provides an insight into Mark's gentle ways.

'Playing Mark is like simultaneously experiencing every punchline in the Ork Codex.' -Charlie

How long in the hobby? First, a two-year stretch at uni as a distraction from writing my thesis, a year or so in the wilderness, and then five years properly.

What is your favourite thing about this hobby? I enjoy crafting extensive army lists, agonising over colour schemes, carefully working out back-stories... and then lining everything up in nice, neat lines on my desk.

Games played and Armies painted?
Warhammer: Bretonnians, Goblins, Empire, High Elves.

Warhammer 40k: Imperial Guard (mechanised, tanks, airborne and... everything), Space Marines (by accident)

Other games: Inquisitor, Historical Napoleonic (Le French), Don't Rest Your Head, Vampire.

If you represented yourself as a model what would it be and why? A Techpriest Enginseer, as I like to dissassemble technology to discover how it works (and occasionally smack things with a gigantic axe).

'Maisey always manages to conceive of a beautiful colour scheme, put a plan into action, paint the whole thing with a degree of competence generally impossible at such break-neck speeds, and then gets distracted at the point where only 1% of the project remains unfinished.' -Charlie

'He's the only man I know whose dice luck is somehow worse than mine...' -Jeff
